Honoring Bravery: Araw ng Kagitingan

Every April 9, the Philippines commemorates Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), a day dedicated to remembering the heroism and sacrifice of Filipino and American soldiers during World War II, particularly those who fought in Bataan.

필리핀은 매년 4월 9일, 제2차 세계 대전 당시 필리핀과 미국 군인들의 영웅적인 희생, 특히 바탄 전투에 참전했던 이들의 헌신을 기리는 '용사의 날(Araw ng Kagitingan)'을 기념합니다.

이 날은 필리핀 역사를 만들어 온 용기, 불굴의 정신, 그리고 애국심을 되새기는 날입니다. 전국 각지에서 기념식이 열리며, 바탄의 사마트산 국립기념관에 있는 용사의 기념비(Dambana ng Kagitingan) 등에서 헌화식이 거행됩니다.

每年4月9日，菲律宾都会纪念“英勇日”（Araw ng Kagitingan），缅怀二战期间菲律宾和美国士兵的英勇牺牲，特别是那些在巴丹半岛浴血奋战的将士。

这一天提醒着人们，正是勇气、韧性和爱国主义塑造了菲律宾的历史。全国各地都会举行纪念仪式，人们会在巴丹半岛的萨马特山国家圣地等纪念碑前敬献花圈，那里矗立着雄伟的“英勇纪念碑”（Dambana ng Kagitingan）。
